چکیده
This paper presents another type of bin which has successfully been used on material hard to dis charge from a storage bin, including industrial waste. I would like to point out that the Eastman Kodak Co. has handled material as low in density as lib/cu. ft. I would suggest that a paper follow this one giving more details. The information given in this paper whets the appetite for more information. What are some actual experiences with existing installations? Have any problems occurred with: 1. Pluggage or bridging? 2. Jamming screws? 3. Bearing problems? 4. Fire or dust explosions in bins? 5. Drive problems? 6. FreeZing to walls? Why is thrust greater with steeper hoppers? What is width limit? length limit? What is exper ience starting scrws after material has set in the bin several days? Are any special details considered in wall or hopper construction? Have you developed any information on effect of height of material on density or side wall pres sures? What specifications are used for drives? I would recommend enclosing drive units sufficiently to provide protection for motors and maintenance in inclement weather. What specifications for materials in the bin do you require? A future paper might consider how C. DONALD FISHER

Long-term leaching test of incinerator bottom ash: evaluation of Cu partition.
Two types of leaching tests were performed on the bottom ash from municipal solid waste incinerators. A short-term batch test specified by the America Nuclear Society (ANS) and long-term column tests with acetic acid (pH 5.2) as leaching solution were used to evaluate copper leachability. The Cu leaching after the 5-d ANS test is about 1% of the original Cu content of 5300 mg/kg. Upon addition ...
متن کاملLong-term tillage and residue management effect on soil compaction and nitrate leaching in a Typic Haploxerert soil
A field experiment was conducted to compare the effects of long-term tillage and cropresidue management on some physical properties and nitrate leaching of a Typic Haploxerertsoil under winter wheat (Triticum vulgare L.)-soybean (Glycine max L.) double-croppingsystem. The tillage systems consisted of conventional tillage with stubble (CT1), conventionaltillage with stubbles burned (CT2), heavy ...
متن کاملEffect of improving flue gas cleaning on characteristics and immobilisation of APC residues from MSW incineration.
The flue gas cleaning system of a MSW incinerator with a capacity of 350 kt/year was changed to improve the HCl elimination efficiency. Instead of the semi-wet operating spray reactor and subsequent baghouse, a two-step wet flue gas cleaning was added behind the baghouse. Elemental composition, X-ray powder diffraction patterns and TGA measurements showed that the resulting APC residue was tota...
متن کاملLeaching Recovery of Zinc, Cobalt and Manganese from Zinc Purification Residue
This paper reports on the recovery of zinc, cobalt and manganese by two-step leaching of zinc-plants purification residue with sulfuric acid. The residue, hot filter press cake (HFC), contains 14 % ZnO, 4.8 % Co3O4 and 22.9 % MnO. Effects of different parameters are determined and used to optimize the process. With acid to hot filter press cake (HFC) stoichiometry of 0.85, acid concentration of...
متن کاملEnvironmental assessment of incinerator residue utilisation.
Incineration ashes may be treated either as a waste to be dumped in landfill, or as a resource that is suitable for re-use. In order to choose the best management scenario, knowledge is needed on the potential environmental impact that may be expected, including not only local, but also regional and global impact. In this study, A life cycle assessment (LCA) based approach was outlined for envi...
